Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
We are so focused on the relationship that our founder wrote a book about it! We provide behind-the-scenes support (i.e. research and analysis) for organizations to strategically engage donors. We give you all the information you need so you’re prepared to meet potential funders and build strong, long-term relationships.
We take advantage of the time difference. We schedule meetings, email questions or comments, and coordinate with your team members during the overlapping hours of our work days. We move products forward for the rest of our work day and you wake up to results.
One person can only know so much. Our teams are made up of experienced, skilled, and motivated individuals that come from diverse professional backgrounds, and because Smarter Good works with more than 30 organizations at a time, our team has the benefit of seeing first-hand the methods that produce fundraising success. They also have an extensive knowledge of funders. In short, Smarter Good has a panoramic view that is difficult to achieve through an in-house staff member.
It depends on the size of the organization. For small organizations, we work directly with the ED/CEO/Founder. For larger organizations, we work as the team that supports your Development Director or we fit into your fundraising function where you need additional support.
Our Finance and Accounting partnerships start at 6 months, though we encourage a contract that goes the length of your fiscal year.
Our Fundraising and Research partnerships start at 6 months, though we encourage a 12-month contract since it takes that long to see results from the cultivation strategies and products we will develop together. Most of our clients renew after the initial contract, and we grow with the organization. This is why we are still working with our very first client!
Prospect Research, Customized Research, and Marketing and Communications partnerships are designed to run for different lengths of time, based on the project and your needs.
We deliver the best quality work that we can for all clients regardless of the circumstances. We also don’t believe in a zero-sum approach to fundraising. We are all changemakers with goals to build thriving communities. Let’s find ways to work together, not against each other!
We can work with these systems: Xero, Quickbooks Online, Quickbooks Desktop, and Intacct. For payroll in the US we recommend and primarily use Gusto but we are able to work with all payroll systems i.e. Paychex, ADP, QB Payroll. We are flexible and will work with the programs you have, though we may suggest some new ones that will save you time and money, too.
We store documents in Box or in your preferred accounting system and we adhere to rigid compliance requirements to keep your data safe, but also always available to you.
